Everyone deserves a welcoming space to thrive
My commitment to making Thrive with Dr Bal accessible, inclusive, and comfortable for every visitor and participant.
My commitment to inclusion
At Thrive with Dr Bal, my mission is to help everyone find their path to wellbeing. I believe that everyone should be able to access my programmes and website with ease, regardless of their physical or cognitive abilities.
To make sure my digital home is as welcoming as possible, I am currently optimising the site to meet the latest international standards known as WCAG 2.2 Level AA.
Improving my website standards
Digital accessibility is a journey rather than a destination, and I am continuously working to keep my site in peak condition. My latest review shows that I am partially compliant, as I am currently in the process of updating some of the site's deeper technical features.
This includes refining certain colour contrast ratios and adding more descriptive labels to images and buttons to better support people using screen readers. These improvements are part of my development roadmap for Q2 2026.
Accessible learning materials
I design all my written materials with accessibility in mind from the start. My approach includes:
Minimum 11pt font size (most content is 12pt or larger)
Sans-serif fonts for better readability
High contrast colour schemes
Clear heading structures for screen reader navigation
Alt text descriptions for images and diagrams
Plain language throughout, avoiding unnecessary jargon
Support during live sessions
During my online group sessions, I provide auto-generated captions and a chat function for those who prefer not to speak. I always welcome camera-off participation and build regular breaks into the session structure so you can engage comfortably.
I also make session recordings available for seven days afterwards so you can revisit the content at your own pace.
Alternative formats and extra support
I want to ensure you can participate fully in a way that works for you. If you need materials in a different format, I am happy to provide:
Large print versions (18pt or larger)
Screen reader compatible PDFs
Plain text formats
Audio recordings of key content (7 days' notice needed)
Support workers attending alongside you
Extended time for self-study materials
One-to-one sessions to supplement group work
BSL interpreter (2 weeks' notice; additional cost may apply)
Neurodivergent-friendly design
I recognise that neurodivergent participants may have different needs around sensory input, processing time, and predictability. My sessions follow a consistent structure so you know what to expect each week, and I provide session outlines in advance.
I keep slides visually clean and avoid overwhelming animations or busy backgrounds. I build in processing pauses after key points and welcome questions at any time, not just designated Q&A moments.
If you find group settings challenging, please talk to me about how I can support you — whether that's through one-to-one supplements, written summaries, or other adjustments.
Review and updates
I review this accessibility statement annually and update it whenever I make significant changes to my website or programmes. If you have feedback about accessibility or suggestions for improvement, I genuinely welcome hearing from you — your input helps me do better.
Request an adjustment
If you encounter any barriers or would like to arrange support, please get in touch at least seven days before your session.
